We hope you're enjoying the summer. We had a great gig a fortnight ago at the lovely Tommy Flynn's in Camden. There was free champagne, beautiful people, and some superb other bands, including The Fraziers and Antlered Man. Thanks to Dave from Stylish Riots for having us back to one of his club nights.
In future news, we're honoured to be asked to headline this year's Oxford Oxjam music festival! It takes place on Wednesday 25 August. It's FREE entry and all donations raised go straight to Oxfam. It's an outdoor acoustic show and we'll be unveiling some special tracks for the gig.
Oxjam takes place at the famous Oxford Castle, which is a genuine thousand year-old castle. More details can be obtained from the shiny new Music in Oxford website.
It's being organised by the guys from Tiger Mendoza, who are also playing. You may remember that Ian from the band remixed one of our songs earlier in the year, which you can get completely for free here. Also playing are the great Phantom Theory, who you may remember opening our double A-side launch gig at the Oxford Jericho last autumn, as well as Prohibition Smokers Club, Swindlestock, and Kt & Ky.
We hope to see you there - we'll be onstage from 9pm. Otherwise, see you at our tour dates in autumn. More news on those soon.
Until then,
xThe Half Rabbits

Thank you to everyone who came down to our album release gigs over the last couple of weeks. We've had a wonderful time promoting our new album and we've enjoyed playing to so many people along the way. Our show last week at 93 Feet East was our first headline London gig, and we'd like to thank Glasswerk, Royal Treatment Plant, Los and Gin Panic for helping to make the night a successful and memorable one. Video and live recordings are to come. In the meantime, make sure you check out the live pictures on our Facebook page.
Our debut album, From The Horizon To The Map, can be obtained in CD format here on the site, and in digital format from iTunes and Amazon digital.
Never a band to slow down, we're going back in the studio in a couple of weeks. For those who've seen us recently, we're already rolling out new material, in particular the popular live track How The West Was Won. We'll soon be back in touch with how it's going.
18/04/10
The big day has arrived. Our debut album From The Horizon To The Map can now be bought online at our website and can be ordered from anywhere in the world. If you prefer digital format, you get get the album in its entirety, or individual tracks, at Amazon digital UK and USA or iTunes UK and USA.
We'd like to thank everyone who came to our album launch party at the O2 Academy in Oxford on Saturday night. We loved playing our set and partied afterwards until dawn. Thanks also to all the people who bought copies of the CD. It was a pleasure to see so many people turn up and make the event such a big success.
We were supported by two excellent bands - Night Portraits and Dead Jerichos, who both played great sets. We were sorry that the Rock of Travolta were unable to play due to one of their members being trapped overseas by the volcanic ash cloud. Still, we're very grateful for them coming along to the gig anyway! Pictures and video of the show to come soon.
In other news, Michael and Alice were interviewed by Colin from Oxfordbands.com, and the full interview can be found here. We're very grateful for their continued support of our music.
Also, the lovely people at A New Band A Day chose us for their weekly mixtape this week, describing us as 'Excellent QUIET-loud straight-laced razor-rock', which we like. Find out more here.
We've got two more gigs coming up soon: Monday 26 April at the Upin Arms in Reading, and Wednesday 28 April at 93 Feet East on Brick Lane, London. We're particularly excited by the London gig, as we got to choose all our own support bands. More information and discounted advance tickets are here.
We'll be back in touch with more news soon.
Until then,
xThe Half Rabbits

We hope you're looking forward to our album launch as much as we are. The album will be launched at the O2 Academy in Oxford on Saturday 17 April, supported by the Rock of Travolta, Dead Jerichos and Night Portraits. You can get advance tickets here.
We're also delighted to announce the fantastic lineup for our London headline show at 93 Feet East on Wednesday 28 April. The gig is being promoted by the lovely people at www.Glasswerk.co.uk and the 40 Watt Club, who have always been highly supportive of us. It will take place at the superb 93 Feet East on Brick Lane. We chose our own support bands, and the handpicked lineup consists of:
THE HALF RABBITS
+
Royal Treatment Plant (www.myspace.com/royaltreatmentplant)
+
Los (www.myspace.com/wearelos)
+
Gin Panic (www.myspace.com/ginpanicnet)
You can buy cheap advance tickets here.
We're giving away another free track, this time a remix of our song These Rumours, as remixed by the Fourier Transform Research Laboratory. The resultant track reminds of this remix that Aphex Twin recently did of Nine Inch Nails. Better known for his guitar skills in Sunnyvale Noise-Sub Element and his avant-garde record label Fourier Transform, Simon Minter has this to say about his creation: 'Every sound in the remix is sourced from components of the original song. The remix is a deconstruction of the essential atmosphere created by These Rumours, which has been rebuilt into a dubstep-influenced, smoky lope. The result can be seen as a dark, broken mirror held to the original song; reflecting it and destroying it.'
The remix can be downloaded and distributed for free here.
As we get nearer to the release date we'll be uploading some more tracks from the album. However, for those who can't wait that long, here's a short trailer for the album, featuring snippets from some of the tracks.
Stay tuned for more exciting news on the album, sneak previews of the tracks, and interviews with the band.
Bye for now,
xThe Half Rabbits
05/02/10
We hope you've been enjoying 2010 so far. We've got plenty of news, so here goes.
The big day has come at last. Our debut album, From The Horizon To The Map will be released on Saturday 17 April 2010 at a special hometown launch gig. We will be headlining the upstairs stage of the famous Oxford 02 Academy. We will be supported by local rock superheroes The Rock of Travolta, and two exciting new bands; Dead Jerichos and Night Portraits. Advance tickets to the 14+ gig can be found here.
To celebrate, we're giving away a track (When The Rain Stops) completely free. The song was originally recorded during a break in the recording of the album in the frosty days of winter 2009. Originally Michael playing a simple, heartfelt acoustic ballad, musical renegade Tiger Mendoza has transformed the song into a post-rock orchestral extravaganza.
For those of you who don't know, Tiger Mendoza is the brainchild of Ian de Quadros, an Oxford-based songwriter. Principally studio-based in his outlook, Ian recruits a variety of sounds, textures and musicians to create original music which is simultaneously electronic and acoustic. He also has worked with a variety of other acts on remix projects, and in January 2010 won the DJ Shadow Remix competition. A live, multi-instrumental version of Tiger Mendoza will be unveiled later in the year.
You are encouraged to download and share the exclusive When The Rain Stops which can be found here
We're also happy to announce the birth of of our new Twitter feed. Follow us here.
We'll be back in touch with more gig news, recording news, and free stuff.
Until then,
xThe Half Rabbits

We would like to thank everyone who made it down to see our acoustic set at the Jericho in Oxford on Saturday night. We've been sent a few pictures and have uploaded them to the photos section of our Myspace. We had an excellent evening and would like to thank everyone for creating such a wonderful atmosphere. Songs included some of the hits, plus new tracks from our upcoming release. Also, we're going on a mini-tour in October, and there will be more news about this soon.
23/07/09
We've just confirmed a fantastic lineup for our headline gig on Friday 23 October at the Jericho Tavern in Oxford. Supporting us will be Tristan and the Troubadours, Dolittle (of Eat/We Know Where You Live fame) and Phantom Theory. We've enjoyed each band live several times, and when we were given the opportunity to pick our own lineup, we immediately asked these guys. We were even more pleased when they all said they'd play the show. It's going to be great.
23/07/09
Just a quick note to say that we've uploaded three brand new recordings here on our Myspace for your listening pleasure. Consider them a taster of the album, which will be coming later in the year. More news to follow.

The gig is being promoted by the lovely people at YMD Presents, and is in association with BBC Introducing.
20/04/09
We'd like to thank everyone who came down to our Stylish Riots gig at the Camden Barfly in London last week. We had a great night and we hope you did too. Before we went on, we caught a surprise gig by Poison The Well, and immediately after us were Scanners, who we had seen before and were excellent. By the time we went onstage, an audience member was overheard saying that the venue was so hot that she could 'see the singer's heart beat through his shirt'. Well, we like to give it all we've got. Some people have also sent us some pictures, which we've uploaded and you can find in the 'pics' section of our Myspace
05/04/09
Just dropping by with some news about a one-off gig we're playing. It's at the legendary Camden Barfly in London on Friday 10 April. We're supporting the wonderful Scanners, who have recently built up quite a reputation as a great live act. We're onstage at 11pm.

To celebrate 2008 being such a good year to us, we've put two completely free mp3 acoustic tracks from our recent BBC Introducing session in the Music section of our website (high quality), and also to download from our myspace page (lower quality). The songs are 'This Changes Everything' and a newer track entitled 'In Vulnerability', which we debuted at our recent Carling Academy headline gig. Pictures from the session can be found on our myspace page. We hope you enjoy them. Til 2009!

It tops off a year which saw our first appearances on national TV and in the cinema. We saw Giles Borg's film '1, 2, 3, 4' at the London Film Festival a few weeks ago and we thought it was great fun. If you get a chance, you should go and see it too.

We hope you like it, let us know if you notice any teething problems.

Lots of new songs being worked on, these will making appearances at our upcoming gigs. Thanks to everyone who has bought the CD so far! This brings me to our other news... Faulty CDs! The manufacturer who pressed the actual CDs seems to have ballsed up about 10% of them, problems include blank CDs, unreadable CDs and worst of all another band on our CD!! Whilst this has been somewhat of a mission to sort out it does mean that we have got to hear from quite a number of people who have bought the CD which has been great. So yes we apologise if you have a faulty one -email us and we will swap it for one that has been tested. Details of where to buy the CD up now on the release page. Also new great reviews and gigs up now.
08/11/04
The CD is out! Will let you know shortly (tomorrow?) exactly where it is stocked both online and offline. Contact us or Quickfix if you would like one direct from us. The first review is in - check it out on the reviews page. Also out is an interview with Michael - listen to it here. The launch gig was great, much thanks to all who came along and squashed into the Port Mahon.

Much news!
Spooked is on 'Oxfordbands.com presents: Volume 1', a limited edition compilation of a whole host of Oxford bands, which was distributed at their gig on 30th July.
We have been recording a video with Adam Deeves and we will most probably put this on our next CD.
We are recording! We are just finalising the tracklisting; it looks like it will be 6 tracks. Any opinions of what of the new material you would like us to record are all welcome, just drop us an email.
Also new gigs/review/pics.
